People spend allot of money on weddings. And why not, it’s an unforgettable and hopefully lifelasting union between two people who love and are committed to each other. What’s interesting is how few people choose to invest in Pre-Marital Counseling. Relationships require work to remain vibrant and healthy. I suspect is that most couples, because they’re engulfed in the love and romance of the Honeymoon Stage, don’t consider for a moment that conflicts might come up between them down the line. My suggestion is to acquire the necessary tools so when life throws you a curve ball you’ll know how to manage.

As a Couples’ Therapist, I’ve seen many married couples hanging at the “end of their ropes,” emotionally disconnected and often times really angry at each other where their relationship continues to deteriorate.
Experience what many Couples have found to be a satisfying, comfortable, private, cost-effective and time efficient way to start off your life together by:
- Identifying strength and growth areas
- Exploring personality traits
- Developing and strengthening communication skills
- Acquiring Conflict Resolution skills
- Comparing family backgrounds
We learn a lot about how to “be” in a relationship from our parents. If the messages are positive and affirming that’s great but if there’s been trauma, violence, conflict, absent parents, etc. – then one or both partners may be wounded by this and still carry some of this into the relationship. It’s very helpful to talk about this in a kind and understanding way, with empathy and support.
- Discussing Sexual Expectations
- Role Expectations and Marriage Logistics
Have you talked about “who” will do “what” in the marriage and how things will run in the home? What about job, kids, no kids, where to live, how to handle finances, chores, parenting, religion, no religion etc.
Call me at (858) 735-1139 to make an appointment to ensure the longevity and health of your marriage as it is an investment that will continue to pay dividends for years to come.
