Boundaries In Relationships

Boundaries – Do you have them?  People focus so much on being loving and giving that they forget their own limits and limitations.  Have you ever found yourself wondering can I set limits and still be a loving person? Boundaries are put in place to help set healthy limits with your parents, spouses, children, friends, coworkers, and even oneself.  How do I answer someone who wants my time, energy or money?  Why do I feel guilty when I consider setting boundaries?  Being able to set boundaries is an invaluable tool as it helps you gain control of your life.  Without them people can take advantage of you.

Boundaries are personal property lines that define who you are and who you are not.  They influence all areas of your life.  Boundaries consist of physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual limits that give you the freedom to live a healthy and balance life.

Physical boundaries help you determine who may touch you and under what circumstance.

Mental boundaries give you the freedom to have your own thoughts and opinions.

Emotional boundaries help you deal with your own emotions and disengage from the harmful and manipulative emotions of others.

Spiritual boundaries help you distinguish your will from your Higher Power’s and give you the freedom to personal choice.

If you feel you are having difficulty setting appropriate limits and boundaries for yourself with others Individual Counseling can help you acquire the needed tools to be able to do so without feeling guilty or think you are a bad person.  Please give me a call at (858) 735-1139 to learn how to say No and Yes and start taking control of your life.
