I was recently in Las Vegas and as a Marriage Counselor thought about that clever little marketing phrase that brings in millions of visitors each year. Vegas has become a family friendly vacation spot these past years but has always been the perfect destination for behavior indicative of “Freedom To Do.” Sin City is for Bachelor or Bachelorette parties for that one last time around before you get hitched or whatever hedonistic activity you choose to endulge in. With the combination of available sex and excessive drinking partying can be taken to another level. Yes most of that kind of activity you want to stay in Vegas. What you don’t want to leave with you is traces of acting out behavior that can be life changing. Affairs can be remedied. As a Marriage Counselor who specializes in Affair Recovery divorce doesn’t necessarily have to be the end result of a one night stand.
A Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD), on the other hand is life changing especially if it’s not curable. People I talk to in counseling who indulge in high risk sexual activity, whether in Vegas or here in San Diego, say they use condoms but do they use condoms from start to finish or just towards climax. Contracting an STD happens at any time during intercourse whether the first few minutes or after ejaculation.
